The Kharnographer
Latest Version: Kharnographer 1.08 revision e, updated November 02nd, 2005.

Changes from version 1.08d to version 1.08 revision e:
* More helpful error messages for some possible problems related to the route finder - locates problematic shops/settlements.
Changes from version 1.08c to version 1.08 revision d:
* Map versions read correctly for "Map Merging" - fixes some merging problems.
Changes from version 1.08b to version 1.08 revision c:
* Problem fixed in version 1.08 revision b also applied to "Batch Importing" as well as single importing.
Changes from version 1.08 to version 1.08 revision b:
* Fixed a problem with settlement importing - it would not import objects which had a 1 digit length price correctly (eg a sling at 3 gold).

Changes from version 1.07 to version 1.08:
* Movement point system overhaul. Select the movement point counter, then select a "Starting Square". This square will appear with a red foot, and not count towards your total movement points. Continue to click on every sector you wish to move through, and the movement points will start adding up. You can now go over the same square as many times as you wish (and a square you have been through twice or more will have a "double foot" icon). Right-clicking will remove the last placed foot. Once you are done, click the new button in the toolbar next to the horses icon, and the necessary movement commands are copied in to your clipboard (eg "M 22233221"), split in to as many commands as necessary - no more working out "12345678" etc... it splits it in to 8 orders per command, since this is the limit for emailed-in orders.
* If the "route finder" fails to find a journey, it now informs you of the closest possible settlement to your target through journeys, so that you may journey there and either reach your destination on foot, or travel on foot to another nearby settlement and then try to finish the journey from there to your target.
* Settlement window now has a menu - here you can select "Travel To" or "Travel From" - this will load up the route finder window, and fill in the necessary to/from field for you automatically, and then close the settlement window.
* "Level Up"/"Level Down" buttons swapped around in the dungeon map window (now "Level Up" will take you "nearer the surface", eg from level 2 to level 1, and vice-versa for "Level Down").
* Bug related to object #'s being out of range (eg a gem with object number 2555 rather than 255) or having text in (eg "312 P" for a perilous journey, instead of the correctly imported "312") have been fixed/accounted for. It will now try to strip text from the figures when displaying the object list/calculating routes, and also allows for a limit of up to 9999 in an object number, with error messages displayed in the object listing informing you of the settlement/shop if numbers go above 9999.

About
The Kharnographer is an advanced mapping application for the game "Quest". It has many features, such as the ability to process one or all of your turns in one go, automatically importing all map data, settlements, shoplists, settlement info and hide prices, dungeon maps, dungeon locations from offered temple quests. It can import Questor (an old mapping application) maps. It has 4 different terrain graphic sets to use, depending on taste - you can use 1 of the 2 terrain graphic sets created by KJC games, an old Questor style terrain graphic set, and a "Crasiworld" style terrain graphic set.

There is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) based route finder, that allows you to automatically find the shortest and cheapest routes to and from any settlement, as well as giving you the necessary order codes to use. You can list, filter and quickly jump to all "map notes", if you are looking for a specific dungeon or otherwise. All objects for sale in every shop within every settlement can quickly be listed, and filtered to display the cheapest or most expensive of every item type, or to filter out objects in shops that are in villages/towns/cities as desired.

You can quickly merge your map with other maps players have created, deciding which map takes priority where maps might "conflict". You can lock a map to prevent any accidental changes or deletions. You can quickly jump to any specified sector, note or settlement at the click of a button. You can quickly convert all "Unknown" terrains in to water - perfect for when you have finished your map and don't want to fill all the edges in with water. You can look up a brief summary of how complete your map is. You can use a "movement point" counter to see how many MP's it will cost to move over a specified path, and even change settings to calculate the movement point costs for being mounted on various horses, or using flight spells.
